San Jose-based multi-instrumentalist Kathryn Mohr announces new seven track EP Holly and releases a new single 'Stranger'. Following on from her 2020 debut album As If, which was entirely self produced, this time Mohr has teamed up with label-mate Madeline Johnston who performs as Midwife and makes music with a similar ethereal melancholy; the pair travelled to rural Mexico to record the EP,  environment that “quieted the thoughts in my mind, replaced them with roadrunners and wind storms.” New single 'Stranger' is a minimally arranged track, just guitar and vocals, however Johnston's detailed production, double tracking the guitar and subtly layering the vocals at certain points gives the track a spacious, slightly haunted feel reminiscent of experimental artists such as Grouper and The Microphones. Holly will be released on the 21st of October on San Francisco based experimental label The Flenser. -Toby Evans-Jesra
